Pizzicato Five Pizzicato Five is quite possibly one of the best pop groups to have ever existed. That is certainly saying a lot, but just one listen to these cats and you will understand that P-5 is where it's at. It's hard to describe P-5 as they are not like a lot of other J-pop bands. They take huge left-turn from the mainstream and explore such genres as jazz, bossa nova, disco and groovy 1960s soul. Some people may find it difficult to listen to them as a majority of the songs are in Japanese--I know not understanding the lyrics is a turn-off for lots. But honestly, their music is just *sooo good* that you don't even need to bother not understanding the lyrics. Musically, they are that sound. P-5 is one of my all, ALL time favorite bands. I don't know if it's my fascination w/ Japanese (pop) culture or just pop music, but whatever it is...P-5 hits that spot! If you're thinking about listening to P-5, I would recommend these songs: Magic Carpet Ride Baby Love Child Twiggy Twiggy/Twiggy Vs James Bond Groovy Is My Name Fortune Cookie A Room With A View La Guerre Est Finie A Perfect World The World Without You It's A Beautiful Day Playboy Playgirl

Interesting band.
They got quite a bit of airplay on Mark Radcliffe's evening Radio 1 show in the Britpop era.
